You undertake a 40 hour online behaviour therapy training course when you enrol. We then offer a practical training day for candidates who wish to work for Links to Life.

40 hour training

The 40 hour online training program follows the Registered Behaviour Technician ™ Task List 2nd Edition and is designed to meet the 40-hour training requirement for the RBT ™ credential. Links to Life Behavioural Therapist Training Program
Our training program is designed for people who want to develop practical skills and wish to work with Links to Life as a casual behavioural therapist.
The training package you purchase includes all four stages below. The 40-hour online course is the first stage, rather than the complete program.
1. 40-hour online training
Complete the online course to develop your foundational knowledge before attending practical training.
2. Practical training and assessment day
Attend a practical workshop, typically held on a Friday, to put theory into practice. This includes a practical assessment of your understanding and skills.
3. Clinic observations
Following your practical assessment, you will be scheduled to attend up to two observation sessions in our clinic. These sessions help connect your learning with real clinical practice and allow us to identify any training gaps that need to be addressed.
4. Mandatory worker orientation
Once you have successfully completed the training and assessment requirements, you will be invited to attend worker orientation. Orientation forms part of your purchased training package and must be completed before you can be scheduled for shifts.
All four stages are included in the training package and are mandatory for anyone wishing to progress to casual work with Links to Life. Completing the online course or practical workshop alone does not make you eligible for shifts.
Successful completion of the program is a requirement for consideration for casual employment. It does not guarantee employment or a minimum number of shifts.
Individuals who are successful in their application to work as a casual employee at Links to Life have the opportunity to earn while studying.

When you complete the Links to Life 40-hour online course, it’s essential to clarify that whilst you have gained knowledge and potentially skills related to the role of a Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT), you are not officially recognized as an RBT until you fulfill all the requirements set forth by the Behaviour Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
Educational Requirements:
The BACB mandates that individuals seeking RBT certification must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, they need to complete specific coursework in behaviour analysis.
Supervised Experience:
Simply completing a course doesn’t provide the hands-on experience necessary to become proficient in implementing behaviour-analytic interventions. RBT candidates must accrue a certain number of supervised fieldwork hours.
Passing the RBT Exam:
After meeting the educational and experience requirements, individuals must pass the RBT examination administered by the BACB. This exam assesses their knowledge and understanding of behaviour analysis principles and their application.
Certification Renewal:
Once certified, RBTs must engage in ongoing professional development and renew their certification annually to ensure they stay updated with best practices and advancements in the field.
