Let’s help them build the skills now, so they’re ready for what comes next.
Is your child ready for school?
Starting school is a big step.
For some children, being school ready isn’t about knowing their ABCs or counting to 20. It’s about having the skills to participate in a classroom, follow everyday routines, communicate their needs and learn alongside other children.
Are you noticing your child finds it difficult to:
- Follow simple instructions?
- Sit and participate during group activities?
- Wait or take turns?
- Move from one activity to another?
- Tell others what they want or need?
- Play alongside or with other children?
- Cope when they’re told “no” or have to wait?
- Complete everyday routines independently?
- Stay engaged without constant adult support?
If some of these sound familiar, early intervention can help.
That’s where Little Links comes in.
Little Links is our School Readiness Program for children aged 3–6 who need some extra support to develop the skills they’ll need for preschool and school.
And importantly, Little Links doesn’t have to replace your child’s daycare or preschool.
Your child can continue attending the daycare environment they know and enjoy, while attending Little Links on selected days for more targeted, individualised support.
They learn with us. They practise and thrive at daycare.
At Little Links, your child receives 1:1 therapist support within a small group environment.
This gives us the opportunity to slow things down, break skills into achievable steps and give your child the individual support and repetition they may need to learn.
We work on skills such as:
- Following instructions and routines
- Communication and asking for help
- Waiting and turn-taking
- Joining group activities
- Playing and interacting with other children
- Moving between activities
- Coping with changes and waiting
- Developing independence
- Staying engaged and completing activities
- Pre-academic and early learning skills
Then comes an equally important part of learning , Using those skills in the real world.
Once your child begins learning a skill at Little Links, their daycare or preschool gives them natural opportunities to practise that skill with different people, in different places and during everyday routines.
For example, your child might learn how to:
Wait for a turn at Little Links …and practise it while playing with friends at daycare.
Follow a group instruction at Little Links …and use that skill during group time at preschool.
Ask for help at Little Links …and practise asking their educators when they need assistance.
Move between activities at Little Links …and use that skill throughout their normal daycare day.
This is called generalisation, which means being able to use a skill outside the place where it was first learned and it’s an important part of preparing for school.
Little Links + Daycare can work together, your child doesn’t need to choose between therapy and daycare. For some children, the combination can be incredibly valuable:
Little Links provides the structured, individualised teaching.
Daycare provides the everyday opportunities to practise, build confidence and use those skills naturally.
Together, they can help your child become more confident and independent in the environments that matter most.
Individual support. Real group experiences. Everyday practice.
Every child at Little Links has their own individual goals, while also learning alongside other children.
Because being able to do something one-to-one with an adult is different from being able to do it in a busy classroom, daycare or playground.
Little Links helps bridge that gap.
Help them build the skills now, so they’re ready for what comes next.
Little Links runs during the school term at our Ryde clinic for children aged 3–6.
